MY STORY
A Quick Biography
I am an extremely passionate individual with a strong entrepreneurial spirit. I follow my heart and always put my best foot forward. I focus on developing myself both personally, and in a business capacity. I am driven by my thirst for knowledge and I am excited to see where my curiosity will take me. I enjoy traveling, new experiences and sipping red wine. I am also a hobbyist photographer (see here); I enjoy viewing the world through different lenses.
I have an undergraduate degree in psychology, specializing in neuroscience from Brock University. I worked in a research lab studying susceptibility to depression but realized this field was more of an interest than something I wanted to pursue as a career. Flexing my entrepreneurial muscle, I enjoyed learning by starting my own business ventures. Drawing from these business experiences, I helped initiate the licensing division of an apparel manufacturing company in Toronto and founded a non-profit help-line, Noah's Line, for those struggling with depression. Currently, in year two of my MBA program at Schulich School of Business, I focus on my role as a manager at an Anytime Fitness Gym, developing its digital strategy, Campus Advisor Manager for Canada's Next Top Ad Exec Competition, and I continue to build my marketing portfolio. As a member of the selective External Case Team representing Schulich, I concentrate on marketing strategies and brand development.
If you are so curious.. a little bit more
Even as a little girl, entrepreneurship has always been in my blood. Was this because of nature or nurture? That's something I may have tried to answer had I pursued my undergraduate degree in psychology and research. I remember as a 6 or 7-year-old, painting with my mom, and then running to my neighbours trying to sell my paintings (they will be worth something someday I swear!!). I loved experimenting with my artsy side, but I always incorporated a business aspect to it. When I was a little older, about 12 or 13, I started a small manicure business at a weekly market in northern Ontario with all proceeds going to a charity I felt a strong connection with, Shaare Zedec.
Loving the study of neuroscience, I decide to pursue that as my degree after high school. I had the opportunity to work in a lab, and I loved it. However, I realized that researching in a lab wasn't for me.
Whether it was seeing my father run his own business and loving every moment of it, whether it was in my DNA, or whether it's the fact that I was born a millennial, running my own business has always been the goal. As Forbes says, 67% of millennials plan to start their own business (1), and I will be lumped right in there with them.
Halfway through my last year of my undergraduate studies, I was called on by a company owner to help sell his over stock. Excited to take on this task, I quickly found a buyer, a great price, and my first sale! But it didn't end there, soon I had snow balled this into a liquidation company, buying and selling stock in the GTA. I had started my first real company. As 'Clearouts and Closeouts' grew, I started to rent office space with Sparkle International, which lead me to my next venture.

I led Sparkle International, a manufacturing and importing company, in developing its licensing and branding division. I helped managed licenses, sales, marketing and social media; I was involved in all aspects of the business, from warehousing to graphic design to product development. A major focus of mine was the analysis of sell thrus and buyer comments to gain a strong understanding of customers. I used this information to create added value and highly desired products. It was in this position that I learned how much I didn't know about the business world. For me, having an entrepreneurial spirit wasn't enough and I wanted to learn business from an academic standpoint. Back to school I went.
Although I didn't pursue a career from my undergraduate education, a passion for understanding the human mind still persists. I want to promote healthy thinking for a brighter future. I have traveled to Zambia, Botswana, South Africa and Costa Rica to implement this thought. I worked with children to help in any way possible: fixed schools, planted crops, and taught educational fun activities to encourage a healthy and happy life. Seeing the appreciation in the children brought me great joy.
In attempts to develop my leadership skills, I try to always encourage those around me to do their best to reach a unified goal. Understanding my team members learning styles is helpful in assisting them to reach their aspirations. I am a focused worker, always bringing the team back to the core idea and staying productive. My goal is to merge my passion for neuropsychology and growing knowledge of marketing. I want to push companies to build their brand equity through diving deep into the soul of their company, the reason for its existence, and convey this in a unique and effective manner.
